Breaking News!!!!!

BREAKING NEWS: Alex Lambert is going to be on the web series “If I Can Dream”!!!!! I am really overwhelmed with excitement right now, its ridiculous!! I am also really nervous that this might be bad for Alex, but I am really excited to be able to see Alex all the time. This show really is just a constant live feed, I think, with multiple camera angles. There are 5 other duds people in the house so hopefully Alex gets along with them well and doesn’t fall for any of the girls!! Haha

I will comment on tonight’s American Idol performances, probably, tonight, but I am really too excited to watch American Idol right now!! Actually, live blogging might make the show go by a little faster!! It’s already 9:30 and I haven’t started watching Idol because my mom is watching Dancing with the Stars, which I like but I am too busy finding out information about Alex Lambert right now!!

Missing: The Good American Idol

Oh American Idol... What have you turned in to? This is not the show I love... This is just really long and really boring and oh my goodness... I think only 3 of these people might actually have a chance at winning this thing!!

So, the other day, I found a plethora of American Idol blogs, and let me tell you, I was pretty excited!! Yay, good reading material!! haha. Since American Idol is clearly my biggest interest right now, it is really all I want to write and talk about!! So, I think I am going to follow in the footsteps of those bloggers and write my own reviews of the shows!! (I have mentioned Idol fairly briefly in my other blog but it becomes way too lengthy. this should be a good way to separate it though!!) It will probably say similar things to what other bloggers have to say but hey. I don’t care... So, here goes:

By this point, America knows that everyone left has a good voice, but this year the talent is all so average that everyone is on about the same level, except for 2 or 3 people who are a little above the others, but there is no exceedingly great star power in this incredibly boring season. I don’t say this just because my favorite (Alex Lambert!!!) was voted off way too soon. I say this because it is honestly true. (It makes me happy, actually, that Alex is no longer associated with such a bad Top 12, or 11 now.)

Show Date: Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Theme: Billboard’s #1 Hits
Mentor: Miley Cyrus

In last night’s never-ending 2 hour episode, we heard the same thing over and over and over...(eleven times). Ok, maybe all 11 weren’t the same but seriously... last night was just... oh man!! I watch the show because it is my candy, but this year it is not the best handful of candy I’ve grabbed from the jar (bad metaphor?? haha)... Let’s start at the very beginning (a very good place to start, haha)

Personally, I think the whole “contestants/judges/Ryan Seacrest entrance through the big screen” thing is incredibly cheesy!! And every week too?? C’mon!!

Then, we find out that the mentor is Miley Cyrus (which I already knew before the show started). I am not the biggest Miley fan so I when I first heard that she was the mentor, I was like “Seriously? She’s only older than one or two of the contestants? Why would 20-something year old people want to take advice from a 17 year old that has way over stayed her welcome in the entertainment world?” Anyways, they showed the clip and surprisingly, more of them seemed star struck by her than I expected. (I mean I would be star struck because she’s famous but I really wasn’t expecting Lee or Crystal or Casey to be all that impressed with her as a mentor.)

Now onto the singing...

Lee DeWyze
Song: “The Letter”
My Thoughts: He is one of my favorites now that Alex is gone. I found his segment with Miley Cyrus quite entertaining because he looked like he hated life when he was talking with her, haha!! I remember that Michael Johns and Carly Smithson sang the same song back at the season 7 finale. Anyways, he did pretty good. I liked it. However, he does seem somewhat disconnected from the audience when he’s on stage, but I think he’s working on it. The judges appreciated his growing comfort on the stage.

Paige Miles
Song: “Against All Odds”
My Thoughts: For the past few weeks I haven’t seen anything special whatsoever in her. But last night, man... Ugh, her performance clearly started out bad. Her voice didn’t sound good at all. I was expecting her to eventually get to the place where she’d get back into the groove but no such luck. I couldn’t believe it was so bad. I did feel bad for her when the judges had nothing else to say but that it was bad. Kara had it right when she said it was the worst vocal of the season, and Simon was spot on when he said it sounded like there were 5 Paiges singing the song (meaning her voice just went all over the place). I will be shocked if she stays. Even Tim deserves to stay over her this week...

Tim Urban
Song: “This Crazy Little Thing Called Love”
My Thoughts: I do not like Tim. I am 15 and I can see what girls like but still... (I thought he was cute for about a second but I got past that when Alex Lambert took the stage, haha.) Anyways, I actually didn’t think he was as bad as the judges thought. No, he is absolutely not the best or anything but after Paige, he wasn’t horrible. His performance was a bit over the top and got really annoying to watch after a while though.

Aaron Kelly
Song: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”
My Thoughts: I just want to ask this: What do the judges and America see/hear from him??? Seriously. I really listen to the voices on this show, and I just do not hear what is so great about his voice. (I find it interesting how people can have such different opinions on music and what they prefer to listen to.) I think last night was much better than his past performances, and I really honestly tried to find that “enjoyment” factor in his voice, but for me that is really not what I want to listen to. Oh, and I also don’t get how people think he’s all that cute because I don’t see that either. (And the fact that did a song that David Cook, my favorite Idol ever, took on before made me not like him even more, haha)

Crystal Bowersox
Song: “Me and Bobby McGhee”
My Thoughts: I think that Crystal is undeniably good, don’t get me wrong here, but I just can’t really get into her music. I was really impressed last night though, and I think Miley Cyrus actually gave her good advice by telling her to go with the really high notes because they did actually sound really pretty. Each week does kinda sound the same though, and I don’t see her actually winning the whole thing, which I don’t think she wants. She is one of the 3 on the level above the rest though.

Michael Lynche
Song: “When a Man Loves a Woman”
My Thoughts: I think he is a funny loveable guy with a great voice. He’s been kinda like an “unofficial favorite” of mine, meaning that I haven’t actually said that he is one of my favorites but after this week, he’s up there. He is also among one of the 3 who could actually win this. I can see him winning the whole thing!!

Andrew Garcia
Song: “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”
My Thoughts: Ehh. It wasn’t really that good. The song actually felt a little slow. It was nice seeing him without a guitar though (again, good advice from Miley, who would’ve thought??). I don’t even remember that “Straight Up” performance from Hollywood Week that the judges keep referring to, but I really wish they would stop. I feel bad for Andrew because he keeps getting compared to a better version of himself. He’s good (just like everybody else) but not my favorite. And his neck tattoo is distracting.

This was the point when I flipped out because there were still 4 more performances. It was dragging on and on...

Katie Stevens
Song: “Big Girls Don’t Cry”
My Thoughts: First off, I was curious to see her Miley segment because teenagers my age or her age seem to either like Miley or hate her. It would have been kinda funny to see if she hated her. I couldn’t really tell how she felt though. Now to the performance... I hate the song. I really want to like Katie. She’s pretty, and I thought she had a good voice early on, but I don’t know what was up with her voice this week. It sounded as if the sound was coming from her nose at first and then from her throat but completely missing her mouth. Does that make sense? I think that is a pretty accurate way of saying it. I don’t know. I was just literally really annoyed by her voice last night. I’m not really a fan of hers.

Ugh... still 3 more... For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out who 1 of the remaining 3 were as I was watching it last night. I knew there was Casey and Siobhan but it took me a while to remember Didi... oops, haha, sorry!!

Casey James
Song: “The Power of Love”
My Thoughts: He is my other favorite. I like country music so I appreciate his voice, unlike Simon, who probably doesn’t like country music and therefore can’t appreciate his voice. I enjoyed his performance. That’s pretty much it!! Oh, and it was funny when, during his Miley segment, he was like “I’m a big fan of your dad.” It sounded almost as if he said it jokingly on purpose but I think he was actually serious because when she joked back he looked like he felt bad or didn’t know what to say. It was funny!!

Didi Benami
Song: “You’re No Good”
My Thoughts: I like her. Yeah, I did forget her but I think her voice is good and she looked really pretty last night. The song was a little repetitive and annoying but she’s still good.

(What/How do you judge when everybody obviously has a good voice but no one is great??) Last one!!! YAY!!!

Siobhan Magnus
Song: “Superstition”
My Thoughts: I really want to like her because she’s a favorite of many and she’s from my state (first person from MA to ever make it this far), but I just can’t get into her music either. Her personality strikes me more as odd than unique. I don’t know, she’s just a little too “out there” for me. I do really like her hair when she wears it natural and down, as opposed to that monstrosity they had atop her head last night, haha!! And those big glasses actually look good on her too. She is the 3rd person, along with Crystal and Mike, that I feel is a little above the others and might win.

Yay, the show’s finally over. I hate that I look forward to the end of these shows this season. I know I could stop watching, but I really don’t want to so I’ll stop complaining. To recap the night, Miley Cyrus was way better than I expected, I was surprised that the contestants didn’t choose better songs seeing as they had many good options, the contestants weren’t that good (obviously), Paige needs to go home, and I don’t want to go to the Tour this year as I usually do each season.

These are my thoughts on last night’s American Idol!! Now please share your thoughts with me!!
