Wow, I thought I would be better at keeping up with a blog I had more interest in, but I guess my attention quickly turned to “If I Can Dream” soon after the creation of this blog. Anyways, I will be keeping track of tonight’s performances...
First off, 2 weeks ago, I didn’t even watch most of American Idol on Tuesday night. I TiVo-ed it and watched it the next night (I don’t think I’ve done that before...). Last week’s performances were actually pretty good!! I actually really enjoyed it!! (Maybe it was because I can finally just enjoy American Idol as a stress free show now that Alex Lambert is safely in the Dream House!!) And that save was crazy!! I really didn’t know if they would actually save Big Mike or not...
Well, I will start watching tonight’s show in a little bit... I am pretty excited about tomorrow night’s result show because Justin Gaston, who is in the Dream House with Alex and also might be known from Nashville Star or as Miley Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend, is going to be on singing a duet with Season 7 contestant Brooke White. I’m hoping this will bring some publicity to “If I Can Dream” because the people in that house pray for opportunities like this. Justin will get to show his talent to 30 million people!! I hope they mention Alex Lambert too, but I love everyone in that house now!! haha
Now on to the show... (I was making note as I went so sorry the writing is choppy, haha)
Show Date: Tuesday, April 13, 2010
Theme: Elvis
Mentor: Adam Lambert
Oh, Elvis night... This should be interesting. Adam Lambert is mentoring, which is kinda cool since he’s gone through the process before. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Adam on American Idol, but hey, some of his songs are good.
Crystal Bowersox
Song: “Saved”
Eh, it’s ok. Pretty much the same thing as usual from her, or at least that’s how I see it. She always has the god voice and deserves praise but she’s not my favorite.
Andrew Garcia

Song: “Hound Dog”
It was cool to see that he was inspired by Big Mike’s performance before the big save. I realized I actually enjoy his voice. Yay... no guitar with him this week, that’s new. Kinda weird seeing him without it though. Not bad overall... Yeah, Ellen!! (I know this sounds all choppy but remember I was writing as I was watching) I hate that the judges always compare the contestants’ versions to the original... annoying. I think that Ellen sees and hears what would actually be listenable and enjoyable to audiences, but the others are so technical all the time.
Tim Urban
Song: “Can’t Help Falling in Love”
Ryan called him “Turban.” That was funny, but kinda sad, haha!! He has got to go! I haven’t even heard him sing his song yet, I just think it was his time to go like a billion weeks ago, way before Alex!! Rehearsal sounds ok so let’s see... He’s actually good this week, but not great and it’s like his first good performance ever. Maybe he doesn’t deserve to go this week, not that he would anyways, but others deserve to stay more!!
Lee Dewyze
Song: “Little Less Conversation”
Good advice Adam!! (For Lee to get more connected to the audience). Lee Dewyze is my 2nd fave, after Casey James. 2 contestants in a row to not use the main part of the stage, haha. I like his voice, but he does kinda do the same thing each week. It’s consistently good, just not different.
Aaron Kelly

Song: “Blue Suede Shoes”
Scratch that earlier Tim Urban comment about him having to leave. Aaron also has to go home!! I am not an Aaron fan AT ALL!! I just don’t hear the enjoyable sound in his voice. He’s ok, yeah, but that’s it for me. However, this is a refreshing thing to hear from him though. Nice and different.
Siobhan Magnus

Song: “Suspicious Minds”
Wow, why is her hair always so high? haha. Her hair is so pretty down and straight, like it shows in her rehearsals. Ok, so now to the song. It sounds really good actually. Much better than last weeks slow/super quiet version of “Across the Universe.” She has such a unique voice. Not my fave idol but she’s good, and she’s from Massachusetts so I try to like her.
Song choice doesn’t seem to be much of a problem tonight as usual, except maybe Siobhan, according to the judges.
Michael Lynche
Song: “In the Ghetto”
The Saved One!!! haha. That guitar looks so small in his hands. He has such a good voice!! He sounds like Luther Vandross, maybe (is that who I’m hearing?). You can definitely tell they are running out of time here. The judges take 20 minutes to comment at first but by this point it’s down to 10 seconds each. haha.
Katie Stevens

Song: “Baby, What Do You Want Me To Do?”
Oops, I forgot about her, before she came on, haha. She sounds pretty good. That’s pretty much it.
Yeah, best for last!! I love Casey James!!
Song: “Lawdy Miss Clawdy”
I realized last week that he’s pretty cute!! He always sounds good, but this is not his best week though. Who does he sound like, Bo Bice maybe? I can’t quite figure it out. I like when he wears his hair down better. I’ve gotta vote for him though because I will be upset if he goes home. Not “Alex Lambert Elimination” upset, but still upset!! haha
This took exactly 2 pages of notebook paper (a notebook was easier than a laptop that keeps dying!!) Remember Justin Gaston on the results show!!
