Another Unexpected Elimination (for me anyways)
Cool beginning. I really liked Harry Connick Jr. as a mentor last night. They make the group song about a girl, bring in Crystal, the only girl left, but she is kinda dressed as a guy. Interesting... As I said, I predict that Casey will leave. Sad, but he probably deserves it most based on last night. I can’t believe it is already the top 5. Funny group video. It’s nice that families get to stay together in the hotels, as shown by the behind the scenes video. I love those videos. I think this is the most “real” group of contestants ever because they are all so average, which isn’t a bad thing. I don’t really like Lady Gaga. Her voice is actually good, but I can’t stand her elaborate performances and outfits. Crystal has an insulin pump?? So do I!! That Harry Connick Jr. segment was so funny!! I love him!! I don’t know what his voice sounds like. He is the best mentor because he really cares, you can tell!! Lots of contestant performances tonight. They sound good on Harry’s songs. Again, he cared so much about the contestants that he cut his performance time in half and had the contestants join him. Good story Harry told about when he met Sinatra, haha!! Mike bugs me with that 2 hand wave he does. Ugh, Lee knew that Ryan was gonna ask him to choose, or he almost asked him that. It was funny because Lee just like shook his head and knew it was coming. Woah!! I thought for absolute sure it was Casey tonight and he’s not even in the bottom 2. I don’t know who it will be, hopefully Aaron... Yeah!!! Finally. He lasted a really long time. I’m sorry, he looks sad. I actually thought he sounded good last night. Well, I’m happy because Lee and Casey are safe. Well, more so that Aaron is out. I really thought Casey deserved to go this week, but now I don’t need to rush my Friday plans to watch Casey on “If I Can Dream.” (I was watching Aaron on “If I Can Dream” as I typed this up and he seemed like a very cute genuinely nice person. On American Idol, you can never see there personalities. It’s not really fair to the contestants that America can’t learn more about them each week.)
Harry Connick Jr. = Best Mentor Ever!!!
I don’t really want to write this while watching. I really shouldn’t be worrying about it though because I don’t think anyone really reads this (If you are reading this, then please comment or follow!!). Let’s go Lee and Casey!! I’m kinda happy to have a week without Siobhan. She was annoying me. Lee looks exactly the same each week. Oh, and Harry Connick Jr. is pretty handsome, hahaha!! That was random, maybe even creepy but whatever... haha. He is a pretty good actor, I saw him in “P.S. I Love You” and “New In Town”. I haven’t heard his music though. I like Sinatra’s music, not that I even really listen to it, but when I do hear it, I like it. It reminds me of my grandparents’ house on Christmas Eve when there are old songs playing.
Theme: Sinatra
Mentor: Harry Connick Jr.
Harry Connick Jr. is a great mentor!! He is really doing a lot of work to help them out. No mentor has ever done that much to help them out, like with arranging songs and playing for them on stage.
Aaron Kelly
Song: “Fly Me to the Moon”
That electronic sheet music thing is cool that Harry Connick Jr. has. He sounds good actually, and I’m liking the non-spiky hair. I really love how much Harry is trying to help them. It is what no other mentor has done. Aaron was actually ok tonight.
Cool Coca-Cola cups tonight!! (Wow, that was an alliteration!! haha)
Casey James
Song: “Blue Skies”
He’s so cute!! Haha, his story about his friend back home calling him about a $50 gig he got for them was funny. Good point (with it’s not about the lyrics all the time and sometimes it’s about the groove.). Aah, no guitar, hopefully it goes well... He sounds totally different, not sure whether it’s good or bad. Good last note, but not sure if the judges are gonna like it. He’s so cute though!! Judges had very true points.
Crystal Bowersox
Song: “Summer Winds”
I know this is a singing show and she is a great singer, but she never looks “clean.” I just wish she would take her hair out of the dreads. She sounded great tonight though!!
Songs seem shorter tonight. Simon’s cute still holding Sinatra’s hanky.
Michael Lynche
I love this song!!! I don’t think his voice fits this week’s theme, I don’t know, its weird. For his voice, it was good though.
Simon is definitely happy tonight. Usually he doesn’t seem like he’s paying attention. He’s really in it tonight.
Lee DeWyze
Song: “That’s Life”
Yeah!! He’s soooo good!!! Harry Connick Jr. is hilarious!! Lee sounds different too, good though. He’s the best again tonight!! Crooked smile = (heart) (I will not make that “<3”. that is not me). Yeah, you can win!! I think he has moved into my top spot for favorites, maybe it’s just a tie between him and Casey.
My guess is that Casey is gone tomorrow and I can accept it... He is the only one who deserves to go. The only problem is that the would be on “If I Can Dream” this Friday, and I might miss some of it. This would be the only one I really care about either.

The Unexpected Upset
Just be warned that this will be the most scattered presentation of my thoughts!! haha
I love Rascal Flatts!! And Lady Antebellum!! Why Shakira on country week though? And why isn’t Shania Twain performing?
Ew, vampire looks... Lee looks like a cat. Everyone has cat eyes and it is really creeping me out. So “Twilight”ish. The video is kinda creepy. I hate the vampire concept, but I think it actually was the best video so far!!
The Shrek voice over thing would be a cool experience. I like Antonio Banderas!!
Here go the start of the results. Please not Casey or Lee (I doubt it would be Lee). Mike or Casey are probably the group that is part of the bottom 3. Hopefully it’s Mike over Casey though. Guessed it right!! Siobhan is actually in the bottom 3??? Wow, I wasn’t expecting that, even though I, personally, think that’s right.
I remember the Sons of Sylvia from another Carrie Underwood special around Christmas time. They all play odd instruments. I like the sound though. I LOVE Lady Antebellum’s sound!!! They’re so good!! That blonde guy looks like Lance Bass and the girl (Hilary Scott) looks like Fergie (kinda).
Rascal Flatts and Shakira??? How will that work? It was actually kinda weird and not great. I like the quote Shakira said: “Keep your eyes on the stars, but keep your feet on the ground” from Roosevelt.
I hope, and think, it will be Mike. Nope, ugh. It’s probably, most likely gonna be Casey. It’s gotta be... WOAH!!!! WHAT AN UPSET!!!!!
That is unbelievable!! I’m excited because Casey’s safe, but kinda feeling sorry for Siobhan because I thought she was going to the top 3. She’ll be on IICD on Friday, which Alex will probably be really happy about!! (I am actually watching it right now as I type this.)

All Aboard the Shania "Twain"!!
Soooo, this past week I have actually been listening to Lee’s “The Boxer”, and I can’t believe how good it is!!! It’s weird because I don’t understand how it can be THAT good, but it is... I’ve also listened to Andrew’s “Hound Dog”, multiple times, because I actually really like the sound of it. His voice is great in it and the arrangement is enjoyable. Those are the only songs from Idol that I’ve listened to multiple times this season, other than Alex Lambert. Anyways, on to the show...
Show Date: Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Theme: The Songs of Shania Twain
Mentor: Shania Twain (who else would it be for this week??)
Wow. Dramatic beginning with the whole “This person was a (insert job title here), but now their life has changed!!” haha! Shania Twain seems like a random theme... Whatever, she’s very funny and pretty so it’s ok.
Lee DeWyze
Song: “You’re Still the One”
I seriously never know how to spell his last name!! Is it big “W” or little “w”?? I think it is big “W”... I love his voice so much!! Not his best song, he sounds like he’s struggling a little, but obviously he’s still an amazing singer. He’s so cute!! I like the crooked smile!!
Michael Lynche
Song: “It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing”
I think his voice is great, but honestly, I’m kinda ready for him to go. It feels like the exact same performance each week. I know that has been said about everyone else too, especially Crystal and Casey, but it happens with him too. And he does kinda act a little over confident. I don’t know, maybe it is the right amount of confidence. I really don’t even know what I’m trying to say. Whatever, he sounds good, and that is what counts. See... he does sound like Luther Vandross!! I was right!!
They usually don’t refer back to the mentor as much as they are tonight. It’s probably just because they are all her songs. That must be tough for a group of people to sing your songs and get judged on them. I’m actually listening to her songs as I type this, and I really enjoy her music.
Casey James
Song: “Don’t”
Yeah!!! (I think I start all of his sections like that, haha.) I hope he changes it up this week so that he can get the praise he deserves. I hate it when they sit behind the judges, though. It seems awkward. I guess he is a little more powerful and singing more this time, but I don’t feel it is as different as he was saying it was. Maybe it is, what do I know? It was great vocal as usual!! Love him!! Wow, he’s tall standing next to Ryan!! haha. (My iTunes library just shuffled to this song just as I finished typing it... Weird! haha. Her version sounds a lot different.)
Crystal Bowersox
Song: “No One Needs to Know”
That was a brave thing to say in a package (about her boyfriend manning up and proposing to her) Hahaha, that was funny!! Ah, I remember this song. She sounds good. Cute fan shirt that her boyfriend had for her: “Did you know that America prefers Crystal 1 bajillion times more than other contestants?” or something really close to that. I actually thought she was good, but clearly I was wrong, according to the judges.
Aaron Kelly
Song: “You Got A Way”
Time for you to go!! Sorry. He’s 17 now? Since when? I seriously can’t hear what the judges hear in him. They love him!! I really honestly don’t understand. I’ve never been this way with a contestant before. Usually if I don’t personally enjoy listening to them, I can still hear a good voice in them, but I really don’t find his voice nice at all!! Sorry, but that’s what I feel.
Hey, Blake Lewis is in the audience, behind the judges. Quite an odd hair cut on him...
Siobhan Magnus
Song: “Any Man of Mine”
I swear they always leave her for last because they always think she’ll be the best. This is like her 3rd time being last to go, which is a good thing for the contestants because they would be the most fresh in the viewers’ minds. Why doesn’t she wear her hair down when it looks so good that way? They always put it in a crazy up do! (I said that last time too, haha.) Ok, the walking around through the audience is awkward. Not as good as other weeks. Oh, and there’s the infamous scream... Watch the judges love it when I hate it... Yep!! Why was it that good? I don’t understand AT ALL!!! Ellen's Shania "Twain" comments were funny (cheesy, but funny) tonight!!
Really not getting the love for Aaron and Siobhan from the judges... I had like completely opposite opinions with the judges for most of these performances tonight. When I think its good, they hate it and vice versa.
I guess maybe Mike will go, I don’t know. I want Aaron to go but I know that won’t happen. Everyone was good enough for the judges tonight, except Crystal for some reason, so I don’t know who will go. Crystal probably won’t go, but I don’t really care as long as its not Casey or Lee...

Idol Gives Back!!
I apologize for the fact that this post is really gonna be a bunch of scattered thoughts. I also apologize for my comment about Idol Gives Back in the last post about how long and boring it is. It truly is a great thing. I just meant that the performances were long and boring but I can just skip through them.
Idol Gives Back = long show. No problem though, its vacation week and I can sleep in. Plenty of acts tonight. Actually, Amanda, Giglianne, and Ben from “If I Can Dream” are at the concert tonight!! Maybe we will see them!! Hopefully I don’t end up writing this whole time.
Beginning of the group song sounds cool/interesting. That’s a good way to show each voice (by putting Lee, Crystal, and Tim together) because they all have unique voices. Bringing back the Top 12, are we? haha. Casey’s hair looks a bit “over-crimped”.
These stories about poor families are so sad. They make me feel kinda guilty for what I have, but grateful too!
George Lopez is hilarious!! Aah, when he said “Kara, you’re safe, but no cute boy is safe,” does that mean Casey’s not safe since they put the camera on him?? Hopefully not... Ugh, Casey’s in the bottom 3 though... I saw that coming. Aaron is probably next to go in the bottom. Yep, he is!
Honestly, I’m just skipping through these performances because the get long and take up my time and it’s not like they are doing anything to directly help the cause. These stories are seriously so sad though.
The Jonah Hill/Russell Brandt thing is funny. That really was Octomom and Tatiana Del Toro (She looks so different though!!). I forgot about the elimination, I wonder if they’re really gonna have it. I love Wanda Sykes!! She’s so funny and her voice is hilarious.
Ok, with this bottom 3 (Casey, Aaron, and Tim), Aaron or Tim BETTER leave!!!
David Cook!!! What a nice surprise!! Still hating his hair-do, but I love him!! How can African girls be married at 5??? That’s so sad!! Aww, I love David Cook!! I know I said that but it’s true!!
That transformation of that little girl with AIDS with Annie Lennox was amazing!!! Did you see how much weight she gained and how much healthier she looks?? Wow!!
Seriously, out of this bottom 3, it better be Aaron or Tim!! Noooooo!! Aaron’s safe!! Please be Tim, please be Tim... YES!!! Sooo happy right now!! Sorry, but I feel like the unconquerable was just conquered/defeated!!! And Casey deserves it way more, vocally. Yay, it was time. Tim will be on “If I Can Dream” this Friday at 7 PT (10 Eastern).
Idol Gives Back was great over all!! They are doing great things for the U.S. and Africa!!

Inspire Me!!
How’s this for keeping up with the blog? 2 weeks in a row!! I keep forgetting it was Idol Gives Back week. But all those festivities are tomorrow. I’m excited to see how Casey does this week!!
Show Date: Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Theme: Inspirational Songs
Aw, Captain Sulley is so cute!!
I’m gonna try to spend the rest of this show voting for Casey and Lee. And by “try” I mean that I’m getting the busy signal for the first time this season... Ok, I guess not all of the guys are going first.
Crystal Bowersox
Really hoping Aaron or Tim goes home, but I suppose it could be Casey... PLEASE NO!!! Or Mike too. Wow, it really could be Casey, crap!! Ugh, and the phone lines are still crazy busy!!
This show seemed somewhat short. Probably because I broke it up nicely with my Twitter session!! haha. Idol Gives Back tomorrow night. (Personally, and this might sound mean, but I don’t like Idol gives back night because it is long and drawn out. And I know it’s for a great cause but still. Have they done eliminations during Idol Gives Back night? I feel like they skip eliminations on those nights. I don’t know.)

Theme: Inspirational Songs
Mentor: Alicia Keys
Aw, Alicia Key’s is so cute!! Casey’s up first!!
Casey James
I love him!! Haha, he looks like he got a fake tan!! Nothing amazing this week, but he is still great!! Haha, those girls in the audience with the guitars, that was random. C’mon Casey, you gotta step it up a little and be amazing!!
Lee DeWyze
Song: “The Boxer”
Two faves in a row, Yeah!! I love his crooked smile. He sounds really good, I like it!! Yeah, Lee, nailed it on the head this week. He deserves the praise!
Aw, Captain Sulley is so cute!!
Tim Urban
Song: “Better Days”Please go home!! Others deserve it more. And please get a hair cut; it doesn’t have to be a lot, just a little. Good luck following Lee’s amazing performance. He’s ok again this week, slowly getting better. Oh, I don’t really like his smile as much as everyone says it great! Sorry, I’m just in a Tim bashing mood, haha.
I just took a really long break to get in on the “If I Can Dream” Twitter session featuring Jason Castro tonight!! Yep, they read my tweet. I said: “Alex, didn’t you say that Jason was your fave idol? Are you guys gonna have a jam session on your ukuleles?” Well, Alex seemed very excited by my question, it was cool!! I wanted to upload the video of it but this site won't let me upload videos at this time!! ugh...
Ugh, I always go to fast forward through the commercials on my TiVo and of course there isn’t a commercial. They seem to be doing all the guys first tonight...
Aaron Kelly
Song: “I Believe I Can Fly”I’m getting more used to his voice, and I’m thinking it is ok, but he’s still isn’t what I really like to listen to. Ok, this is weird... I actually like this performance and suddenly don’t hate his voice. Ugh, what is wrong with me? haha
Siobhan Magnus
Song: “When You Believe”
Let’s go Massachusetts!! She’s so cute!! I think she has a good voice, but it really doesn’t sound that special or unique at all. I’m just saying that I wouldn’t listen to her music by choice, but on American Idol, yes, she’s good and deserves her spot. Exactly, what Kara said: she’s not going to sell too many CDs with what she’s doing now.
Michael Lynche
Song: “Hero”I recently realized that he’s called Big Mike, like on “The Blind Side.” I’m wondering I they really should have used the save on him or not. I think he has a great voice, but I’m now thinking that, if compared to Lee, should he really deserve to be saved when the time came? I don’t know. Hopefully only people who deserve to go will from now on. The theme of this season seems to be “I’m good. I can sing and play and instrument, but I won’t bring anything new to the stage each week.” Mike was good though!! haha
Song: “People Get Ready”
Well lets see this performance if we’re gonna love it, according to Alicia Keys. She mentioned that cool lamp mic stand of hers in an earlier Twitter/Facebook message today. It’s interesting. She sounds really good. And different than usual this week!! Woah, emotion at the end there... haha. She even looks different, in a good way.
Crystal and Lee were definitely the best tonight.

Double Elimination plus Justin Gaston!!
Results night!! Excited to see how Justin Gaston does!! I’m not obsessed with him at all, just to make that clear, I just like his voice and I want to see him succeed, as well as everyone else on “If I Can Dream” (only at ificandream.com).
Starting off with the group song. Pretty awkward as usual, with those embarrassing dance moves and the horrible way that the song is arranged in order to divide it amongst everyone. Are they lip synching? Their voices sound way too smooth to be live. I didn’t even pay attention to the Ford video, I was busy writing this down, but those are cheesy anyways.
I keep forgetting that 2 people are leaving tonight... I want Aaron and Tim to go, but I’ll settle for Aaron and Katie because I know there’s no chance of Tim leaving. Andrew could go too.
Woah!!! That Andrew elimination came out of nowhere!! That’s a little sad because I finally decided I liked him. I’ll get over it, besides he’ll visit the “If I Can Dream” house later this week, with whomever else gets eliminated, because that’s what they do each week this season. Oh, but now I feel bad for Lee because they were good friends.
Yay!!! Duet time with Brooke White and Justin Gaston!! They’re doing so well!! I’m so happy for Justin, he sounds amazing!! It’s really weird, though, seeing him on Idol after being able to watch him on the live feed all the time on the web show. Wow, barely any mention of “If I Can Dream,” just once at the beginning. I thought they might at least mention that Alex is on the web show too!! So good though!! I wish I could watch “If I Can Dream” later tonight to watch as the housemates watch Justin’s performance but it will be too late by then.
I think that Katie is the next to go. Phew... my faves are safe (Casey and Lee)!!
Cool effects Adam had!! It looked really cool at first, but there were obviously too many effects though because he’s barely visible in all of the fog and light. I still don’t really like his voice that much when he sings live. The recording of “Whataya Want From Me” is good, I mean I even have it on my iPod, but this isn’t that great.
Ok, well I saw that Katie elimination coming. I was pretty spot-on tonight with the eliminations.
All in all it was a pretty decent results show because the guest performances weren’t bad. They were much better than the usual over the top pop crap acts!! Anyways, I’ll be back next Tuesday to share my opinions. Next week’s theme is inspirational songs with mentor Alicia Keys!

Songs Of The King
This was all live blogging, but I was just a little late to actually post it... Whoops!! haha, that's ok though...
Wow, I thought I would be better at keeping up with a blog I had more interest in, but I guess my attention quickly turned to “If I Can Dream” soon after the creation of this blog. Anyways, I will be keeping track of tonight’s performances...
First off, 2 weeks ago, I didn’t even watch most of American Idol on Tuesday night. I TiVo-ed it and watched it the next night (I don’t think I’ve done that before...). Last week’s performances were actually pretty good!! I actually really enjoyed it!! (Maybe it was because I can finally just enjoy American Idol as a stress free show now that Alex Lambert is safely in the Dream House!!) And that save was crazy!! I really didn’t know if they would actually save Big Mike or not...
Well, I will start watching tonight’s show in a little bit... I am pretty excited about tomorrow night’s result show because Justin Gaston, who is in the Dream House with Alex and also might be known from Nashville Star or as Miley Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend, is going to be on singing a duet with Season 7 contestant Brooke White. I’m hoping this will bring some publicity to “If I Can Dream” because the people in that house pray for opportunities like this. Justin will get to show his talent to 30 million people!! I hope they mention Alex Lambert too, but I love everyone in that house now!! haha
Now on to the show... (I was making note as I went so sorry the writing is choppy, haha)
Show Date: Tuesday, April 13, 2010
Theme: Elvis
Mentor: Adam Lambert
Oh, Elvis night... This should be interesting. Adam Lambert is mentoring, which is kinda cool since he’s gone through the process before. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Adam on American Idol, but hey, some of his songs are good.
Crystal Bowersox
Song: “Saved”
Eh, it’s ok. Pretty much the same thing as usual from her, or at least that’s how I see it. She always has the god voice and deserves praise but she’s not my favorite.
Andrew Garcia
Song: “Hound Dog”
It was cool to see that he was inspired by Big Mike’s performance before the big save. I realized I actually enjoy his voice. Yay... no guitar with him this week, that’s new. Kinda weird seeing him without it though. Not bad overall... Yeah, Ellen!! (I know this sounds all choppy but remember I was writing as I was watching) I hate that the judges always compare the contestants’ versions to the original... annoying. I think that Ellen sees and hears what would actually be listenable and enjoyable to audiences, but the others are so technical all the time.
Tim Urban
Song: “Can’t Help Falling in Love”
Ryan called him “Turban.” That was funny, but kinda sad, haha!! He has got to go! I haven’t even heard him sing his song yet, I just think it was his time to go like a billion weeks ago, way before Alex!! Rehearsal sounds ok so let’s see... He’s actually good this week, but not great and it’s like his first good performance ever. Maybe he doesn’t deserve to go this week, not that he would anyways, but others deserve to stay more!!
Lee Dewyze
Song: “Little Less Conversation”
Good advice Adam!! (For Lee to get more connected to the audience). Lee Dewyze is my 2nd fave, after Casey James. 2 contestants in a row to not use the main part of the stage, haha. I like his voice, but he does kinda do the same thing each week. It’s consistently good, just not different.
Aaron Kelly
Song: “Blue Suede Shoes”
Scratch that earlier Tim Urban comment about him having to leave. Aaron also has to go home!! I am not an Aaron fan AT ALL!! I just don’t hear the enjoyable sound in his voice. He’s ok, yeah, but that’s it for me. However, this is a refreshing thing to hear from him though. Nice and different.
Siobhan Magnus
Song: “Suspicious Minds”
Wow, why is her hair always so high? haha. Her hair is so pretty down and straight, like it shows in her rehearsals. Ok, so now to the song. It sounds really good actually. Much better than last weeks slow/super quiet version of “Across the Universe.” She has such a unique voice. Not my fave idol but she’s good, and she’s from Massachusetts so I try to like her.
Song choice doesn’t seem to be much of a problem tonight as usual, except maybe Siobhan, according to the judges.
Michael Lynche
Song: “In the Ghetto”
The Saved One!!! haha. That guitar looks so small in his hands. He has such a good voice!! He sounds like Luther Vandross, maybe (is that who I’m hearing?). You can definitely tell they are running out of time here. The judges take 20 minutes to comment at first but by this point it’s down to 10 seconds each. haha.
Katie Stevens
Song: “Baby, What Do You Want Me To Do?”
Oops, I forgot about her, before she came on, haha. She sounds pretty good. That’s pretty much it.
Yeah, best for last!! I love Casey James!!
I hope Aaron and Tim get eliminated, but it will probably be Katie and maybe Aaron, but I don't know... Andrew is another option for who might be going.

I realized last week that he’s pretty cute!! He always sounds good, but this is not his best week though. Who does he sound like, Bo Bice maybe? I can’t quite figure it out. I like when he wears his hair down better. I’ve gotta vote for him though because I will be upset if he goes home. Not “Alex Lambert Elimination” upset, but still upset!! haha
This took exactly 2 pages of notebook paper (a notebook was easier than a laptop that keeps dying!!) Remember Justin Gaston on the results show!!

Breaking News!!!!!
BREAKING NEWS: Alex Lambert is going to be on the web series “If I Can Dream”!!!!! I am really overwhelmed with excitement right now, its ridiculous!! I am also really nervous that this might be bad for Alex, but I am really excited to be able to see Alex all the time. This show really is just a constant live feed, I think, with multiple camera angles. There are 5 other duds people in the house so hopefully Alex gets along with them well and doesn’t fall for any of the girls!! Haha
I will comment on tonight’s American Idol performances, probably, tonight, but I am really too excited to watch American Idol right now!! Actually, live blogging might make the show go by a little faster!! It’s already 9:30 and I haven’t started watching Idol because my mom is watching Dancing with the Stars, which I like but I am too busy finding out information about Alex Lambert right now!!

Missing: The Good American Idol
Oh American Idol... What have you turned in to? This is not the show I love... This is just really long and really boring and oh my goodness... I think only 3 of these people might actually have a chance at winning this thing!!
So, the other day, I found a plethora of American Idol blogs, and let me tell you, I was pretty excited!! Yay, good reading material!! haha. Since American Idol is clearly my biggest interest right now, it is really all I want to write and talk about!! So, I think I am going to follow in the footsteps of those bloggers and write my own reviews of the shows!! (I have mentioned Idol fairly briefly in my other blog but it becomes way too lengthy. this should be a good way to separate it though!!) It will probably say similar things to what other bloggers have to say but hey. I don’t care... So, here goes:
By this point, America knows that everyone left has a good voice, but this year the talent is all so average that everyone is on about the same level, except for 2 or 3 people who are a little above the others, but there is no exceedingly great star power in this incredibly boring season. I don’t say this just because my favorite (Alex Lambert!!!) was voted off way too soon. I say this because it is honestly true. (It makes me happy, actually, that Alex is no longer associated with such a bad Top 12, or 11 now.)
Show Date: Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Theme: Billboard’s #1 Hits
Mentor: Miley Cyrus
In last night’s never-ending 2 hour episode, we heard the same thing over and over and over...(eleven times). Ok, maybe all 11 weren’t the same but seriously... last night was just... oh man!! I watch the show because it is my candy, but this year it is not the best handful of candy I’ve grabbed from the jar (bad metaphor?? haha)... Let’s start at the very beginning (a very good place to start, haha)
Personally, I think the whole “contestants/judges/Ryan Seacrest entrance through the big screen” thing is incredibly cheesy!! And every week too?? C’mon!!
Then, we find out that the mentor is Miley Cyrus (which I already knew before the show started). I am not the biggest Miley fan so I when I first heard that she was the mentor, I was like “Seriously? She’s only older than one or two of the contestants? Why would 20-something year old people want to take advice from a 17 year old that has way over stayed her welcome in the entertainment world?” Anyways, they showed the clip and surprisingly, more of them seemed star struck by her than I expected. (I mean I would be star struck because she’s famous but I really wasn’t expecting Lee or Crystal or Casey to be all that impressed with her as a mentor.)
Now onto the singing...
Paige Miles
Song: “Against All Odds”
My Thoughts: For the past few weeks I haven’t seen anything special whatsoever in her. But last night, man... Ugh, her performance clearly started out bad. Her voice didn’t sound good at all. I was expecting her to eventually get to the place where she’d get back into the groove but no such luck. I couldn’t believe it was so bad. I did feel bad for her when the judges had nothing else to say but that it was bad. Kara had it right when she said it was the worst vocal of the season, and Simon was spot on when he said it sounded like there were 5 Paiges singing the song (meaning her voice just went all over the place). I will be shocked if she stays. Even Tim deserves to stay over her this week...
Tim Urban
Song: “This Crazy Little Thing Called Love”
My Thoughts: I do not like Tim. I am 15 and I can see what girls like but still... (I thought he was cute for about a second but I got past that when Alex Lambert took the stage, haha.) Anyways, I actually didn’t think he was as bad as the judges thought. No, he is absolutely not the best or anything but after Paige, he wasn’t horrible. His performance was a bit over the top and got really annoying to watch after a while though.
Aaron Kelly
Song: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”
My Thoughts: I just want to ask this: What do the judges and America see/hear from him??? Seriously. I really listen to the voices on this show, and I just do not hear what is so great about his voice. (I find it interesting how people can have such different opinions on music and what they prefer to listen to.) I think last night was much better than his past performances, and I really honestly tried to find that “enjoyment” factor in his voice, but for me that is really not what I want to listen to. Oh, and I also don’t get how people think he’s all that cute because I don’t see that either. (And the fact that did a song that David Cook, my favorite Idol ever, took on before made me not like him even more, haha)
Crystal Bowersox
Song: “Me and Bobby McGhee”
My Thoughts: I think that Crystal is undeniably good, don’t get me wrong here, but I just can’t really get into her music. I was really impressed last night though, and I think Miley Cyrus actually gave her good advice by telling her to go with the really high notes because they did actually sound really pretty. Each week does kinda sound the same though, and I don’t see her actually winning the whole thing, which I don’t think she wants. She is one of the 3 on the level above the rest though.
Michael Lynche
Song: “When a Man Loves a Woman”
My Thoughts: I think he is a funny loveable guy with a great voice. He’s been kinda like an “unofficial favorite” of mine, meaning that I haven’t actually said that he is one of my favorites but after this week, he’s up there. He is also among one of the 3 who could actually win this. I can see him winning the whole thing!!
Andrew Garcia
Song: “I Heard it Through the Grapevine”
My Thoughts: Ehh. It wasn’t really that good. The song actually felt a little slow. It was nice seeing him without a guitar though (again, good advice from Miley, who would’ve thought??). I don’t even remember that “Straight Up” performance from Hollywood Week that the judges keep referring to, but I really wish they would stop. I feel bad for Andrew because he keeps getting compared to a better version of himself. He’s good (just like everybody else) but not my favorite. And his neck tattoo is distracting.
This was the point when I flipped out because there were still 4 more performances. It was dragging on and on...
Katie Stevens
Song: “Big Girls Don’t Cry”
My Thoughts: First off, I was curious to see her Miley segment because teenagers my age or her age seem to either like Miley or hate her. It would have been kinda funny to see if she hated her. I couldn’t really tell how she felt though. Now to the performance... I hate the song. I really want to like Katie. She’s pretty, and I thought she had a good voice early on, but I don’t know what was up with her voice this week. It sounded as if the sound was coming from her nose at first and then from her throat but completely missing her mouth. Does that make sense? I think that is a pretty accurate way of saying it. I don’t know. I was just literally really annoyed by her voice last night. I’m not really a fan of hers.
Ugh... still 3 more... For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out who 1 of the remaining 3 were as I was watching it last night. I knew there was Casey and Siobhan but it took me a while to remember Didi... oops, haha, sorry!!
Casey James
Song: “The Power of Love”
My Thoughts: He is my other favorite. I like country music so I appreciate his voice, unlike Simon, who probably doesn’t like country music and therefore can’t appreciate his voice. I enjoyed his performance. That’s pretty much it!! Oh, and it was funny when, during his Miley segment, he was like “I’m a big fan of your dad.” It sounded almost as if he said it jokingly on purpose but I think he was actually serious because when she joked back he looked like he felt bad or didn’t know what to say. It was funny!!
Didi Benami
Song: “You’re No Good”
My Thoughts: I like her. Yeah, I did forget her but I think her voice is good and she looked really pretty last night. The song was a little repetitive and annoying but she’s still good.
(What/How do you judge when everybody obviously has a good voice but no one is great??) Last one!!! YAY!!!
Siobhan Magnus
Song: “Superstition”
My Thoughts: I really want to like her because she’s a favorite of many and she’s from my state (first person from MA to ever make it this far), but I just can’t get into her music either. Her personality strikes me more as odd than unique. I don’t know, she’s just a little too “out there” for me. I do really like her hair when she wears it natural and down, as opposed to that monstrosity they had atop her head last night, haha!! And those big glasses actually look good on her too. She is the 3rd person, along with Crystal and Mike, that I feel is a little above the others and might win.
Yay, the show’s finally over. I hate that I look forward to the end of these shows this season. I know I could stop watching, but I really don’t want to so I’ll stop complaining. To recap the night, Miley Cyrus was way better than I expected, I was surprised that the contestants didn’t choose better songs seeing as they had many good options, the contestants weren’t that good (obviously), Paige needs to go home, and I don’t want to go to the Tour this year as I usually do each season.
These are my thoughts on last night’s American Idol!! Now please share your thoughts with me!!

Now onto the singing...
Lee DeWyze
My Thoughts: He is one of my favorites now that Alex is gone. I found his segment with Miley Cyrus quite entertaining because he looked like he hated life when he was talking with her, haha!! I remember that Michael Johns and Carly Smithson sang the same song back at the season 7 finale. Anyways, he did pretty good. I liked it. However, he does seem somewhat disconnected from the audience when he’s on stage, but I think he’s working on it. The judges appreciated his growing comfort on the stage.
Paige Miles
Song: “Against All Odds”
My Thoughts: For the past few weeks I haven’t seen anything special whatsoever in her. But last night, man... Ugh, her performance clearly started out bad. Her voice didn’t sound good at all.
